At the urging of Ellen's aunt, Bette Hamilton, Hopeworthy Lee is the namesake of the 1940's standardbred trotter Hopeworthy Lee, owned by Ellen's grandfather. The first Hopeworthy Lee, in addition to many other wins, ran the fastest mile at Roosevelt Raceway in 1944 and also won the highest purse of the fall session. Tragically, he was killed in a freak collision with a vehicle on the track later in the year. Of course, Hopeworthy’s name is also very compatible with his sire Noteworthy. This colt has "superstar" in his blood, with tremendously long legs and lightness of gait. He was site champion of the 2012 Pennsylvania ISR/Oldenburg Inspection, with an very impressive overall score of 8.5. Judge Christian Schacht remarked that Hopeworthy Lee was the finest foal we have ever presented for inspection by the ISR Oldenburg registry.
